Soccer Recap: Monacan Snags Ninth Win in Last 12 Games

Monacan barely beat Powhatan the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chiefs' defense stepped up to hand the Indians a 4-0 shutout on Wednesday. Given Monacan's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Powhatan are ranked 133rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Monacan has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those 12 matches. As for Powhatan, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

As of now, neither Monacan nor the Indians have any future games scheduled.
