Baseball Recap: St. Paul Triumphs

St. Paul hadn't done well against Paraclete recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The St. Paul Swordsmen walked away with a 5-2 win over the Paraclete Spirits. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Swordsmen.

Jonathan Lara looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Troy Sibolboro, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Fernie Soto was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

St. Paul hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Paraclete struck out seven times.

St. Paul's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-3. As for Paraclete, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Coincidentally, St. Paul and Paraclete will both be playing Cajon the next time they take the field. St. Paul will host Cajon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Paraclete will host them at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
