Volleyball Recap: Mishawaka Marian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

It was a good run, but Mishawaka Marian unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Elkhart Lions by a score of 3-2. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Mishawaka Marian actually scored more points across those five sets (96-94), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 12-25, 25-23, 25-14, 15-9.

Elle Boser paced Mishawaka Marian's offense, picking up 16 kills. Boser got some help from Bri Lundy and her 35 assists. Finally, Adele Macer kept Mishawaka Marian's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Mishawaka Marian's defeat dropped their record down to 20-11. As for Elkhart, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-9.

Mishawaka Marian and Elkhart should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Knights (ranked 57th) will meet South Bend Washington (ranked 381st) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Elkhart will face off against Goshen at 11:00 a.m. on the 18th with a big rank advantage (40 vs. 346).
