Recap: Native American Community Academy Eagles vs. Estancia Bears
The Native American Community Academy Eagles struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Tuesday (the Estancia Bears were 30% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Native American Community Academy was outmatched by Estancia on the road and fell 66-39. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Native American Community Academy in their matchups with Estancia: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Native American Community Academy still got an impressive performance from Makeda Casiquito, who scored 25 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Casiquito has scored all season. Raine Edaakie was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and eight assists.
Estancia's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jhenna Valencia, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Valencia has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Karina Villafuerte, who scored ten points along with four steals.
Native American Community Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Estancia, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Native American Community Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Academy for Technology and The Classics at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Academy for Technology and The Classics is coming into the matchup with four straight wins on the road, so Native American Community Academy is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. As for Estancia, they will challenge Menaul at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Menaul is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
