            Football Recap: Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders vs. Venice Indians        
        
		
        
        
            
After flying high against Zephyrhills Christian Academy  last Friday, Clearwater Central Catholic came back down to earth. The Marauders took a hard  35-21 fall against the Venice Indians on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Marauders of the  27-20 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in October of 2024.
 Despite the loss, Clearwater Central Catholic still got an impressive performance from   Corey Simms, who rushed for 113 yards and two  TDs.  Khayse Barrett was another key player, rushing for 30 yards and one  score.
 Venice's win  was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from   Darryon Jones, who rushed for 118 yards on only 15 carries, and also threw for 139 yards and a pair of  touchdowns. The Indians' leading receiver  Tyree Mannings was  Jones' top target yet again, picking up 76 receiving yards and one  TD, while also rushing for 67 yards on only seven carries.
Clearwater Central Catholic suffered their first road  defeat, dropping their record down to 7-2. As for Venice, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record  this season.
 Clearwater Central Catholic will get a bit of extra time to process the  loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Boca Ciega at 7:30  p.m.  on  the 31st. As for Venice, they will venture away from home to  challenge Sarasota  at 7:30  p.m.  on Friday.
