Basketball Game Preview: Fredericksburg Christian Eagles vs. Oakcrest Chargers

Fredericksburg Christian hasn't had much luck against Oakcrest recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fredericksburg Christian Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Oakcrest Chargers at 5:30 p.m. Oakcrest took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Fredericksburg Christian, who comes in off a win.

Fredericksburg Christian will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating Trinity Christian, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Fredericksburg Christian secured a 44-38 W over Trinity Christian on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Layna Thomas was her usual excellent self, going 5 of 7 on her way to 18 points and six steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Amri Donado was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Meanwhile, Oakcrest suffered their closest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Seton by a score of 46-43. The Chargers haven't had much luck with the Conquistadors recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Fredericksburg Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Oakcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Fredericksburg Christian came up short against Oakcrest in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 61-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Oakcrest's Kate Newsome, who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points along with eight boards and three steals.
