Softball Game Preview: Foran Lions vs. Westhill Vikings

The Foran Lions are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will square off against the Westhill Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Foran is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Foran will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Law, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lions were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Lawmen on Thursday.

Abigail Corris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Foran let Norah Bove and Olivia Gregory run wild. Bove scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Gregory scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyla Jaser, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Westhill kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against Stratford, falling 14-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 16, 2024.

Foran pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Westhill, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
