Baseball Recap: Walnut Ridge Comes Up Short

If Walnut Ridge was feeling good fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Calico Rock last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Walnut Ridge Bobcats fell just short of the Newport Greyhounds by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. The Bobcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Greyhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Walnut Ridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JACE BLAKE, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Walnut Ridge fell to 2-1. As for Newport, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Walnut Ridge will square off against Hoxie at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. This will be Hoxie's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Newport, they will take on Rivercrest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
