Preview: North Mesquite Stallions vs. Samuell Spartans
North Mesquite is 3-0 against Samuell since December of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The North Mesquite Stallions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Samuell Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
North Mesquite had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They had just enough and edged Seagoville out 63-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory North Mesquite has posted yet this season.
North Mesquite's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jermiah Grigsby led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and four blocks. Grigsby continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last five games he's played. Micah Vaughn was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Even though Samuell has not done well against Conrad recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Samuell took down Conrad 76-60.
North Mesquite's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-10. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Samuell, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
North Mesquite didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Samuell in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-50 victory. Does North Mesquite have another victory up their sleeve, or will Samuell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
