St. Thomas Aquinas and Holy Spirit squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but St. Thomas Aquinas had to settle for second. They fell to the Holy Spirit Spartans 35-31. The Trojans lost against the Spartans in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 50-21 score last time.

Despite the defeat, St. Thomas Aquinas saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chukwuma Odoh rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown. Odoh's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 107 rushing yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Anthony Perez Jr., who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

The loss snapped St. Thomas Aquinas' winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-3 record. As for Holy Spirit, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

St. Thomas Aquinas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Holy Spirit, they will head out to take on DePaul Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Holy Spirit is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
