Preview: Batesville Bulldogs vs. Rushville Lions

Batesville is 0-10 against Rushville since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Batesville Bulldogs will look to defend their home court against the Rushville Lions at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Batesville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.

Batesville scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They blew past South Dearborn 60-38. Given Batesville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while South Dearborn is ranked 332nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Batesville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sophie Gesell out in front who scored 19 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gesell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Haskamp, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and four steals.

Rushville suffered their biggest loss since December 9, 2023 on Saturday. They had to suffer through a rough 72-40 loss at the hands of Pendleton Heights. Rushville has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Batesville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Rushville, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Batesville lost to Rushville at home by a decisive 60-45 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Batesville, Briley Munchel (who scored 13 points along with nine assists and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
