Basketball Recap: Schenectady Comes Up Short

Schenectady was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 16th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Albany Falcons 85-10. The game marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Albany got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nyona Austin out in front who went 9 for 12 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks. Those 18 points gave Austin a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gabby Taylor, who went 8 of 13 en route to 20 points.

Schenectady's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Albany, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Schenectady has already played their next match (against Colonie Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Albany wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-33 win against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on the 28th.
