Basketball Game Preview: Chavez Titans vs. Edison Vikings

Chavez hasn't had much luck against Edison recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Chavez Titans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Edison Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Chavez has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Chavez will head into Friday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 23-point drubbing they dealt Franklin on Friday. Chavez put the hurt on Franklin with a sharp 60-37 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Titans have posted since December 7, 2024.

Meanwhile, Edison came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Cardinals by a score of 58-51. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Cardinals are ranked 572nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Edison's win bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Chavez, their victory bumped their record up to 9-13.

Chavez came up short against Edison in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 44-34. Can Chavez avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
