Preview: Yazoo City Indians vs. Gentry Rams
Yazoo City is 9-1 against Gentry since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Yazoo City Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Gentry Rams at 7:00 p.m. Yazoo City is looking to tack on another W to their 11-game streak on the road.
Even though Yazoo City has not done well against Holmes County Central recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Yazoo City enjoyed a cozy 57-42 victory over Holmes County Central. Given Yazoo City's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Holmes County Central is ranked 150th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Gentry had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They snuck past Greenville with a 55-49 win on Wednesday. The victory was just what Gentry needed coming off of a 73-47 loss in their prior match.
Yazoo City has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. As for Gentry, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-13.
Everything went Yazoo City's way against Gentry in their previous matchup on January 9th as Yazoo City made off with a 54-34 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yazoo City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
