Softball Recap: Tocoi Creek Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Tocoi Creek had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Menendez on Friday. The Tocoi Creek Toros blew past the Menendez Falcons 11-1. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Toros this season.

Ryleigh Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. She also got a hit, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Camdyn Hunt was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Skye Fourman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Tocoi Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Menendez only managed four hits.

Tocoi Creek's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-1. As for Menendez, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tocoi Creek will host Fleming Island at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fleming Island is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season. As for Menendez, they will be playing at home against Ponte Vedra at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ponte Vedra will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Menendez surely won't give up without a fight.
