Baseball Game Preview: Thunderbird Titans vs. Deer Valley Skyhawks

The Thunderbird Titans will face off against the Deer Valley Skyhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thunderbird is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Thunderbird was able to grind out a solid victory over Goldwater, taking the game 6-1.

Andrew Cohill was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Hunter Donathan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Deer Valley hadn't done well against Estrella Foothills recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Deer Valley blew past Estrella Foothills 10-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Skyhawks.

Carter Reitz tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Deer Valley is 3-1 when Reitz allowsone or fewer earned runs, but 5-7-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bryan Burnett, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Carr, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Deer Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got Deer Valley back to even at 8-8-1. As for Thunderbird, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
