Baseball Game Preview: Petersburg Buffaloes vs. Crosbyton Chiefs

The Petersburg Buffaloes will head out on the road to square off against the Crosbyton Chiefs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Petersburg has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 1.

Things were looking good for Petersburg after they put the first runs on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 16-4 to Springlake-Earth. That's two games in a row now that the Buffaloes have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Petersburg saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brecken Rasco, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Malachi Sedillo was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Crosbyton fell victim to Nazareth and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Swifts, falling 17-0. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Petersburg's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Crosbyton, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Petersburg skirted past Crosbyton 1-0 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buffaloes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
