Basketball Game Preview: North Smithfield Northmen vs. Mt. Hope Huskies

North Smithfield hasn't had much luck against Mt. Hope recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The North Smithfield Northmen are taking a road trip to challenge the Mt. Hope Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, North Smithfield strolled past Blackstone Valley Prep with points to spare, taking the game 67-52. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Northmen.

It was another big night for Connor Reilly, who posted 20 points. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Stark, who had 15 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mt. Hope, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 53-52 win over Tiverton.

The victory got North Smithfield back to even at 3-3. As for Mt. Hope, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Things could have been worse for North Smithfield, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-41 loss to Mt. Hope in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Can North Smithfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
