Baseball Game Preview: Herriman Mustangs vs. Copper Hills Grizzlies

For the second straight game, Herriman will face off against Copper Hills. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to challenge the Grizzlies at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Herriman took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Copper Hills get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

The result came thanks to Cache Carter's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Herriman let Boston Jacobson and Kayson Thomas run wild. Jacobson went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Thomas went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave Jacobson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ryker Renteria, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Herriman hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Copper Hills' loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Herriman, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
