Baseball Game Preview: Niles West Wolves vs. Niles North Vikings

For the second straight game, Niles West will face off against Niles North. The Wolves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.

On Tuesday, Niles West needed a bit of extra time to put away Niles North. They skirted past the Vikings 6-5. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by just one run.

Teddy Schroeder spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Niles West let Kevin Foley and Eli Ordower run wild. Foley went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Ordower went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Ordower is becoming a predictor of Niles West's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-10 when he doesn't).

Niles North now has a losing record of 8-9-1. As for Niles West, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-11 record this season.
