Football Recap: Bonita Springs Comes Up Short

After soaring to 32 points the game before, Bonita Springs was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They were beaten by the Mariner Tritons 38-0. The Bullsharks lost against the Tritons in their previous head to head back in August of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 18-14 score last time.

Keegan O'Connell threw for 41 yards on two of nine attempts. Kenneth Garza was his top target, picking up 50 receiving yards.

Owen O'Leary had an outrageously good game for Mariner as he threw for 293 yards and five touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 47 yards. Steven Leon Carter Jr. was O'Leary's top target, picking up 166 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Bonita Springs' loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Mariner, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Bonita Springs didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 42-0 defeat against Cape Coral on the 5th. As for Mariner, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 37-14 loss against North Fort Myers on the 5th.
