Basketball Game Preview: Edwards County Lions vs. Crab Orchard Trojans

The Edwards County Lions just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Crab Orchard Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Edwards County is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Edwards County will head into Wednesday's matchup hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 34) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Webber 50-48. While the Lions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Crab Orchard ended up a good deal behind Webber on Saturday and lost 72-57. While losing is never fun, Crab Orchard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Webber is ranked 113th).

Crab Orchard's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Edwards County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Edwards County ended up a good deal behind Crab Orchard in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, losing 62-47. Can Edwards County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
