Softball Recap: Fox Lane's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Fox Lane dropped their record down to 5-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 12-0 to the White Plains Tigers. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Foxes' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for White Plains, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-3. Their pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last nine contests.

For White Plains' part, Alexis Tighe made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Tighe has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Galligani, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Neela Older, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Looking ahead, Fox Lane will host Somers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for White Plains, they will challenge Ossining at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pride have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
