Softball Game Preview: Perrydale Pirates vs. St. Paul Buckaroos

The Perrydale Pirates will face off against the St. Paul Buckaroos at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

While Perrydale didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Western Christian with a sharp 25-4 win on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on three straight.

Mallory Gunther was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with six RBI and three runs. Lily Eichler was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Perrydale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .389 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, St. Paul never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Western Christian. The win continues a trend for the Buckaroos in their matchups with the Pioneers: they've now won three in a row.

Perrydale's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for St. Paul, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Perrydale was able to grind out a solid victory over St. Paul in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 11-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
