Softball Recap: Burrell Bucs vs. West Mifflin Titans

Burrell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 11-1 to the West Mifflin Titans. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Burrell has scored all season.

For West Mifflin's part, Rylie Dobnak made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Dobnak has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in five consecutive pitching appearances. Dobnak was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, a run, and a double.

In other batting news, Samantha Tomko was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Kaleigh Tatters was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Burrell's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for West Mifflin, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

As of now, neither Burrell nor West Mifflin have any future games scheduled.
