Baseball Game Preview: Alpine Bucks vs. Tornillo Coyotes

The Alpine Bucks will head out on the road to challenge the Tornillo Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Alpine has four straight wins, Tornillo has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Alpine is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Presidio with a sharp 20-1 victory last Friday. Considering the Bucks have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Tornillo didn't have quite enough to beat Presidio on Thursday and fell 5-4.

Tornillo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Manuel Fierro, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Alpine's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Tornillo, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

Alpine was able to grind out a solid win over Tornillo in their previous meeting on April 1st, winning 3-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bucks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
