Basketball Recap: Alexandria-Monroe Takes a Loss

After flying high against Elwood last Friday, Alexandria-Monroe came back down to earth. The Alexandria-Monroe Tigers came up short against the Oak Hill Golden Eagles on Friday, falling 59-38. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.

Oak Hill found their leader in sophomore Jace Tonagel, who went 7 for 13 en route to 21 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Tonagel's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was RJ Shugart, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 14 points.

Alexandria-Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Oak Hill, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Alexandria-Monroe has already played their next contest (against Mississinewa), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Oak Hill will be playing at home against Madison-Grant at 7:45 p.m. on January 31st. The timing is sure in Oak Hill's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Madison-Grant has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
