Baseball Recap: Weeki Wachee Gets the Win

Weeki Wachee won the last time they faced Springstead and things went their way on Tuesday too. Weeki Wachee walked away with an 8-4 win over Springstead.

Jayden Allen was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Weeki Wachee is 7-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-7 otherwise. Allen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jacob Barnum and Saul Melendez did most of the damage at the plate: Barnum scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Melendez scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Barnum has posted since back in March of 2024.

Weeki Wachee now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Springstead, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.

Weeki Wachee and Springstead should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Weeki Wachee (ranked 300th) will meet Fivay (ranked 605th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Springstead will take on Wiregrass Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday up 228 places (117 vs. 345).
