Football Recap: Cortland Comes Up Short at Home Against Solvay + How To Watch

Cortland unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Solvay Bearcats 54-23 on Friday. The Purple Tigers haven't had much luck with the Bearcats recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Connor Browngardt threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Brayden Hale was his top target, picking up 31 receiving yards and one score.

Mekhi Sampson had a dynamite game For Solvay., rushing for 238 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.3 yards per carry.

Cortland will square off against Vernon-Verona-Sherrill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Solvay, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Adirondack at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
