Football Game Preview: McLane Highlanders vs. Roosevelt Rough Riders

McLane is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Roosevelt is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Highlanders will host the Rough Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in McLane's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

If McLane beats Roosevelt with 42 points on Thursday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Highlanders didn't even let Torres on the board on Friday, marking the Highlanders' second-straight 42-0 shutout. Fans of the Highlanders have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

McLane found their leader in sophomore Vernon Lacy, who threw for 246 yards and five TDs.

McLane didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Sergio Jacuinde led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Roosevelt got themselves on the board against Sunnyside on Thursday, but Sunnyside never followed suit. They took down the Wildcats 19-0. The 19-point effort marked the Rough Riders' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

McLane's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Roosevelt, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-0.

Everything came up roses for McLane against Roosevelt when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-14 win. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Rough Riders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
