Baseball Game Preview: Edison Golden Bears vs. LEE Volunteers

Edison is a perfect 4-0 against LEE since February of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Edison Golden Bears will host the LEE Volunteers at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Edison has three straight wins, LEE has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Edison is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Holy Cross a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Golden Bears with their most commanding win of the season.

Luis Garcia Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Edison is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Garcia Smith was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Samaad Bunch was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Soto, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, LEE fell victim to Burbank and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 8-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Volunteers have suffered since April 11, 2024.

LEE's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4-1. As for Edison, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Edison skirted past LEE 5-3 in their previous matchup on Saturday. Will Edison repeat their success, or does LEE have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
