Basketball Recap: Herrin Tigers vs. Chester Yellowjackets
Herrin posted their biggest victory since January 5th on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Chester Yellowjackets as the Herrin Tigers made off with a 51-29 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Herrin got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyrese Lukens out in front who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jared Staple Jr., who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points plus three steals.
Herrin's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Chester, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Herrin Tigers take on the Carterville Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Chester, they will head out on the road to square off against Carlyle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Carlyle will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Chester surely won't give up without a fight.
