Basketball Recap: Heard County Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Heard County entered their tilt with Southwest Atlanta Christian on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 60-50 victory over the Southwest Atlanta Christian Warriors. For the Braves, this counts as revenge for the 76-69 win the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2021.

Heard County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Ogletree, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards Ogletree has posted since back in December of 2023. Jakari Andrews was another key player, going 6 of 8 en route to 12 points and five rebounds.

Heard County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Southwest Atlanta Christian saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jabari Burleson went 9 for 14 on his way to 22 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Another player making a difference was Chase Wiggins, who posted two points and nine rebounds.

Heard County pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Southwest Atlanta Christian, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-15.

Heard County will challenge Model at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Heard County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Model likes a good challenge. Southwest Atlanta Christian has already played their next contest, a 66-54 victory against Notre Dame Academy on the 20th.
