Recap: Creekside Knights vs. Oakleaf Knights
The Creekside Knights waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They breezed by Oakleaf at home to the tune of 46-19. Given Creekside's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while Oakleaf is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Creekside found their leader in underclassman Presley Brinkley, who scored 15 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brinkley has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cami Waters, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Oakleaf's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Armaany Mullins, who scored four points along with four steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Oakleaf struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Creekside posted ten assists.
Creekside's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. As for Oakleaf, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Creekside and Nease will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Oakleaf, they will head out on the road to face off against Bradford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
