Softball Game Preview: Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs vs. Le Roy Oatkan Knights

The Our Lady of Mercy Monarchs will face off against the Le Roy Oatkan Knights at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Our Lady of Mercy knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Le Roy likes a good challenge.

Our Lady of Mercy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bishop Kearney, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's contest. The Monarchs were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Kings on Wednesday. Considering the Monarchs have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matches, Le Roy finally came back down to earth on Friday. They fell just short of Geneseo by a score of 1-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Oatkan Knights were not able to get on the board.

Our Lady of Mercy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Le Roy, they moved to 7-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Our Lady of Mercy took their win against Le Roy when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Will the Monarchs repeat their success, or do the Oatkan Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
