Basketball Game Preview: Pine View Panthers vs. Snow Canyon Warriors

The Pine View Panthers will take on the Snow Canyon Warriors in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Pine View will head out to face Snow Canyon after giving up their first home loss of the season on Saturday. Pine View lost 58-37 to Lehi. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Panthers have suffered since February 13th.

Ella Fiefia put forth a good effort for the losing side as she went 6 of 11 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Gustin, who posted seven points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Pine View smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Snow Canyon put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game with ease, bagging a 76-27 win over Crimson Cliffs. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Pine View's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-3. As for Snow Canyon, their victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0.

Things could have been worse for Pine View, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 60-46 loss to Snow Canyon in their previous meeting back in February. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Snow Canyon's Olivia Hamlin, who went 10 of 19 on her way to 24 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.
