With a playoff win on the line, Sarasota rose to the challenge on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Venice Indians. This was a revenge game for the Sailors: when they faced off against the Indians last Tuesday, they had to take a 7-4 defeat.

The team relied heavily on Mady Pint, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Sommer Speers, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sarasota kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.

Sarasota is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Venice, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-6.

Sarasota has already played their next match, an 8-7 victory against East Ridge on the 13th. Venice does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
