Fairbury gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Heartland Huskies 61-28. The Jeffs pushed the score to 61-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Huskies cut but never quite recovered from.

Fairbury's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evelyn Timmons, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Timmons a new career-high in offensive rebounds (eight). Micah Friesen was another key player, going 6 for 9 en route to 13 points plus six rebounds and three steals.

Fairbury was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heartland only posted three.

Despite the loss, Heartland saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ariane Sololuze went 5 for 9 en route to 12 points plus five rebounds.

Fairbury has already played their next matchup, a 46-43 defeat against Fillmore Central on the 7th. As for Heartland, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 56-24 win against Wilber-Clatonia on the 6th.
