Softball Recap: Mercy's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mercy extended their winning streak to four on Monday, bumping their season record up to 17-11 in the process. They came out on top against the DuPont Manual Crimsons by a score of 9-5. This was payback for the Jaguars, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Olivia Colebank made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Madison Degrella was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Haley Rupe was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.

Mercy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.

As for DuPont Manual, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11. Crimsons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Mercy since on Monday.

On DuPont Manual's side, Bailey Fetcher was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Bella Newell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Coming up, Mercy is taking a road trip to challenge Meade County at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for DuPont Manual, they will be playing at home against Holy Cross at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
