Softball Recap: North Schuylkill's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

North Schuylkill faced Pine Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Spartans narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cardinals 2-0. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Spartans have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Not much got past Brigid Flynn, who gave up just two hits to keep Pine Grove off the board. Flynn has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, North Schuylkill saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallorie Croker, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

The win was the seventh in a row for North Schuylkill, bringing their record up to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pine Grove, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Schuylkill will venture away from home to face off against Our Lady of Lourdes Regional at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Pine Grove, they will head out to challenge Mahanoy Area at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Bears have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.69 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
