Basketball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Rains' Winning Streak

Rains was the 54-41 winner over Commerce when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Rains Wildcats opened the new year with a less-than-successful 63-55 loss to the Commerce Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 590th, while the Tigers are ranked 239th).

Rains moved to 14-5 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Commerce, they pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
