Basketball Recap: Cross County Thunderbirds vs. East Poinsett County Warriors
Cross County lost against East Poinsett County back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Cross County Thunderbirds had to suffer through a 74-43 loss at the hands of the East Poinsett County Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Warriors are ranked 67th).
Jacob Gaines continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Poinsett County, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. What's more, Gaines also posted a 73% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Tyrus Reel was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 13 points and five assists.
Cross County dropped their record down to 4-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for East Poinsett County, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 18-5.
Cross County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 69-52 defeat against Corning on the 7th. As for East Poinsett County, they have also already played their next game, a 63-41 victory against Rector on the 7th.
