Recap: IDEA Sports Park Stingrays vs. Progreso Red Ants

This season hasn't been kind to the IDEA Sports Park Stingrays, who are still winless after their ninth game. They took a serious blow against Progreso on Friday, falling 69-29. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for IDEA Sports Park in their matchups with Progreso: they've now lost four in a row.

Progreso was led to victory by Alexa Galvan and Sophia Pecina. Galvan scored 23 points along with eight assists and eight steals, while Pecina dropped a triple-double on 26 points, 12 rebounds, and ten steals. Pecina is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorena Cerda, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.

IDEA Sports Park dropped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their tenth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 24.3 points per game. As for Progreso, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. IDEA Sports Park will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Santa Rosa at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for Progreso, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Monte Alto at 5:30 p.m. Monte Alto comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 16 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
