Basketball Recap: Nariyah Head's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Proviso East over Oak Lawn

Proviso East and Oak Lawn squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Proviso East had to settle for second. They lost to the Oak Lawn Spartans on the road by a 48-34 margin. The Pirates have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second defeat in a row.

Proviso East lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Nariyah Head, who posted ten points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zulema Montoya, who put up ten points.

Proviso East's loss dropped their record down to 20-11. As for Oak Lawn, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-10.

Proviso East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Oak Lawn, they will head out to take on Kenwood at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kenwood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten games -- so hopefully Oak Lawn likes a good challenge.
