Baseball Recap: Pioneer Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Pioneer came out on top against Gunn on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run third inning. The Mustangs walked away with a 9-4 win over the Titans. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Pioneer let Jayden Goodrich and Ben Kennaday run wild. Goodrich went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Kennaday went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Goodrich a new career-high. Jayden Flores was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Pioneer hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive contests.

Pioneer pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Gunn, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-12.

Looking ahead, Pioneer will be playing in front of their home fans against Branham at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Gunn, they are taking a road trip to square off against Mountain View at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Titans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
