Softball Recap: Argonaut Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

Argonaut had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They never let the Calaveras Red Hawks get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. The Mustangs' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three games.

The result came thanks to Hailey Dewald's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bri Bowers was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

Argonaut pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Calaveras, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Argonaut will venture away from home to challenge Union Mine at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calaveras, they will host Bret Harte at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
