Baseball Game Preview: Salisbury Panthers vs. Marceline Tigers

The Salisbury Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Marceline Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Salisbury will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

While Salisbury didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Madison 17-0 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Salisbury, who have now won six matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Marceline didn't have quite enough to beat Penney on Wednesday and fell 8-6. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cody Rodgers was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Zane Svendsen also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Salisbury is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Marceline, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Everything went Salisbury's way against Marceline in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Salisbury made off with a 10-3 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
