Soccer Game Preview: Maine West vs. Lane Tech

The Maine West Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Lane Tech Champions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Maine West has given up an average of 4.2 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Maine West came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 5-0 to Glenbrook South. The loss continues a trend for Maine West in their meetings with Glenbrook South: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Lane Tech came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The result was nothing new for Lane Tech, who have now won 12 games by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Amundsen from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal.

Lane Tech's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 44 goals over those eight contests. As for Maine West, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Maine West suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Lane Tech in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
