Volleyball Recap: Tolman Find Success

Tolman took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Westerly, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers won by a set and slipped past the Bulldogs 3-2. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Tolman was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (103-99), but they still managed to win. The final score came out to 10-25, 25-20, 25-22, 24-26, 15-10.

Hayson Ortiz paced Tolman's offense, picking up 21 kills. Ortiz got some help from Jean-Lucas Barroso and his 47 assists. Finally, Jim Terry Bornelus kept Tolman's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Tolman's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Westerly, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-3 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Tolman will face off against rival Central at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Westerly is set to take on their familiar foe West Warwick at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
