West Springfield took a 16-run loss the last time they faced off against Lake Braddock, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. West Springfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Braddock on Tuesday, sneaking past 9-7. The game was the first time the Spartans have beaten the Bruins on their field since April 21, 2022.

Elaina Primozic spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered seven earned runs on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Natalie Coughlin, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Layla Muten, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for West Springfield and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Lake Braddock, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-2.

Coming up, West Springfield will venture away from home to challenge South County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lake Braddock, they will welcome Hayfield at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
